We Love To Share Our Story!
Rooted in Faith. Growing in Community. Serving with Purpose.

First Baptist Church of Independence is a family of people following Jesus together—growing in faith, caring for one another, and serving our community.

Since 1845, FBCI has been part of the heart of Independence. Generations have worshiped, served, celebrated, and shared life together here. While much has changed through the years, our purpose remains the same: to share God’s love, follow Christ’s example, and make a difference in the lives of people around us.

And we’re not going anywhere. We believe God has placed us in Independence for a reason. We are committed to our community and excited about what He has in store for the future.

Part of Something Bigger

Our ministry reaches far beyond the walls of our church. FBCI partners with other Baptist churches to share the Gospel, support missionaries, respond to people in need, and strengthen churches and communities locally and around the world.

We cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention, Missouri Baptist Convention, and Blue River–Kansas City Baptist Association, joining thousands of other believers in missions, ministry, church planting, disaster relief, and Gospel outreach.

Putting Faith Into Action

We believe following Jesus means serving others.

Through our own Missions in Action ministry and partnerships with organizations such as Community Services League, Heritage House, Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, Navigators, and Operation Christmas Child, members of FBCI have opportunities to make a meaningful difference—right here in our community and around the world.

Our story began more than 180 years ago. But we believe some of its best chapters are still being written.
